On Tuesday, 80 asylum seekers were taken from their rooms because their accommodation in Spital am Semmering did not meet fire safety requirements. The mayor is surprised by this.
Due to fire safety concerns, 80 refugees had to quickly leave their accommodation in Spital am Semmering on Tuesday.
The eviction was ordered a month ago and now the deadline set by the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district council has expired. In November 2023, the municipality discovered several security holes that could pose a danger to residents.
The mayor wants to defend himself against the decision
Mayor Maria Fischer (SPÖ) was surprised by the eviction. Some measures had already been taken and she had expected a fine instead. Together with the operator, she now wants to defend herself against the decision and is hiring lawyers. The asylum seekers, including children, are now being received in Traiskirchen and Carinthia.
