The sports facility in Bischofshofen im Pongau is in a partly dilapidated state. Having lost hope for improvement, ex-BSK board member Mario Helmlinger pulled the cord and wrote an open letter to the community. Photos leaked to the “Krone” show its size.
Attention, disgust warning! These images leaked to the “Krone” are not for the faint of heart. And probably a plea to the health department as well. A “place of horror” is the sports facility in Bischofshofen, home of the Bischofshofen Sportklub 1933, which has to carry out its daily club work here.
Mold and rust
Mold and rust spread in the cabins and sanitary facilities. Several clubs that were guests at the team’s matches have filed complaints in the past. The children and young people who play sports in the club must also use these areas. Some of them are absolutely undignified and unacceptable conditions. Circumstances that have been known for years. But hardly anything has changed.
Everyone was waiting for the new sports center. The BSK would also have benefited greatly from the new building.
The cure is on hold
But the megaproject is at a standstill. Because the costs had exploded, the rope was pulled for the time being – the ‘Krone’ reported. This move is a serious setback for sport in the region, but understandable given the economic situation. Once again there was no improvement in sight for the BSK.
Mario Helmlinger, who had worked at the club since November 2018, no longer wanted to watch. He asked the BSK to terminate his contract and moved to Kuchl. To say goodbye, he wrote an open letter – which is available for the “Krone” – to mayor Hansjörg Obinger (SPÖ) and the city council.
“Unworthy standards”
The 47-year-old writes that he can no longer work under these circumstances and can no longer be responsible for youth work. In addition to the “unworthy” hygienic conditions, Helmlinger also points out the condition of the artificial grass.
Because the natural grass on the main field – complaints are also regularly received here – only one team is present, the rest have to switch to artificial grass. So especially young people and children. However, this place is also in such poor condition that “regular exercise is more of a health risk than a benefit to physical fitness.”
Mayor Obinger initially did not comment on the matter.
