Before some 400 journalists can work in the new ORF editorial room on Vienna’s Küniglberg from June 16, a fence was installed.
What is going on here? A few days ago, in the early morning hours, busy workers buzzed around the roof of an elongated ORF building at the back entrance of the media center on Küniglberg. Equipped with chainsaw, hammer and drills. The force was installing a new security fence on the broadcasting building in the 13th ward.
400 journalists there soon
“At first glance, it almost looks like Alcatraz Prison,” one resident shook his head in disbelief. In contrast, another ORF neighbor was stunned that a mighty branch of a shady tree had been cut for the construction of the XXL fencing on the roof. Anyway: everything for the safety of the 400 journalists who will be on duty in the new newsroom on the Küniglberg from 16 June.
