A failed overtaking maneuver landed two men (70, 53) in hospital. In the dark and on a wet road, a 70-year-old German tried to overtake in Neukirchen/Enknach in Upper Austria, but overlooked oncoming traffic.
On Friday morning, the 70-year-old German drove his van on the B156 from Neukirchen/Enknach towards Braunau. In the Mitternberg area he wanted to overtake a truck in front of him, driven by a Croat (59).
Collided into oncoming traffic
During the overtaking process, a 53-year-old from Schwand/Innkreis approached him in his car. The truck driver tried to swerve to the right, but the 70-year-old collided with both the truck and oncoming traffic.
The fire brigade had to free the driver
During the collision, the 53-year-old driver was trapped in his vehicle and had to be freed by the fire brigade. He and the German (70) were taken to hospital with injuries of an unknown nature.
