A Ukrainian rescue car stands on Stephansplatz as a symbol of the Ukrainian war and has numerous bullet holes.
Saturday marked the second anniversary of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. As a result, some commemorative events took place in Vienna. A Ukrainian rescue car was placed on Stephansplatz, which was literally destroyed by a hail of bullets. It is considered a memorial to the war in Ukraine.
Demos against right-wing extremism
Under the motto ‘Defend democracy’, rallies and light campaigns against right-wing extremism will again take place throughout Austria on Sunday. After tens of thousands of people took to the streets in Vienna at the end of January against right-wing extremism and racism, this time the events will take place ‘decentrally’ on the initiative of Fridays for Future. Lights will be turned on in front of municipal offices, town halls and monuments at more than 30 locations across the country.
