The CAV and Navarra show the lowest risk rates of social exclusion in the entire state

According to the 2023 Living Conditions Survey, the rate in Euskadi is 15.5%, while in the Foral community it is slightly higher (17.2%). The percentage has decreased slightly in the BAG compared to 2022, while in Navarre it has increased by three points.

The AROPE rate: percentage of population at risk of falling into poverty or social exclusion – is placed in the 15.5% in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) in 2023, a slight improvement on last year’s figure (15.7%). In Navarre it was placed in the 17.2%although it is worth highlighting the increase of almost three points over the past year: in 2022 it reached 14.5%.

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) published the data from the Living Conditions Survey this Monday. According to data from 2023, both the CAV and Navarre are present the lowest rates of the entire Spanish state, which averages 26.5%.

In the specific case of risk of povertyIn Euskadi it affects 10.2% of the population, while 13.8% of the Navarrese population is affected. The evolution of this percentage was positive in the case of the BAC (it decreased from 12.2%), but negative in the case of the regional community (it amounted to 10.9%). Once again Euskadi repeats with the lowest percentage in the entire Spanish state (it is almost double, 20.9%), while Navarra in this case is third, after Madrid.

Other indicators of living conditions have developed unevenly in Hego Euskal Herria. In the BAC, 5.6% of households now have many difficulties making ends meet, compared to 4.1% last year. In Navarre, these data have improved by almost one point, from 6.6% in 2022 to the current 5.7.

The number of families has also increased cannot deal with unforeseen expenses, as in Euskadi it increased from 20.1% to 21.4%. Navarra has seen a larger increase (in 2022 it was 20.1% and now it is 26.1%). Almost one in five residents of the BAC (18.8%) can’t go on holiday away from home at least one week per year. In Navarre the percentage is even higher: 22.6%.

In any case, living conditions are better than in the state as a whole, where 33.1% cannot go on holiday, 37.1% cannot afford unforeseen expenses, 13.6% have payment arrears and 9.3% have to suffer a lot to to come around.
