There is a feverish search in Vietnam for almost a hundred drug addicts, all of whom have fled from a rehab clinic. After a “dispute”, a total of 191 patients “escaped” from the facility in the city of Soc Trang in the south of the country on Saturday evening.
Another 94 prisoners have already been arrested. The search for the remaining refugees continues.
Several guards were injured in the outbreak
The inmates reportedly broke down the doors of their dormitory, ran out the building’s main entrance and then jumped a fence. Some are also said to have escaped through a hole in a wall. Several guards were injured in the outbreak.
The rehabilitation clinic in Soc Trang is very overcrowded. The more than 460 drug addicts, most of whom are men, are guarded by just 60 guards.
