59 since the beginning of this year – Currently four cases: Measles alarm again in Tyrol

Date:

Once again an alarm message about measles comes from the state of Tyrol. A person who was at the climbing center in Innsbruck on February 21 unknowingly carried the virus and was already ill. The country is once again calling on the population to be vaccinated.

“Currently, including the specific suspected cases currently available, four people are believed to have measles and are contagious. According to current knowledge, one of the currently ill people – without being aware of the disease – was at the Innsbruck climbing center and its bistro during the contagious period on Wednesday, February 21,” a press release said. People who were also present between 4:30 PM and 10:00 PM are asked to check their vaccination status for two measles vaccinations (referred to as MMRvaxPro or Priorix in the vaccination certificate under MMR vaccination).

59 diseases recorded so far
“If necessary, the vaccination should be carried out as soon as possible and the health status should be monitored. People who experience symptoms of illness in the respiratory tract (seven to 21 days after contact, depending on the length of the possible incubation periods – i.e. from February 28 to March 13) should self-isolate and first inform an office or the hospital by telephone. ”

People who have been vaccinated twice and people who have already had measles are considered immune. A total of 59 confirmed cases of measles have been recorded in Tyrol this year.

Vaccination is free
The country calls on those who have not been vaccinated or have not been sufficiently vaccinated and have not had the disease to get vaccinated. “The vaccination can be done at any time.”
