An operator died this afternoon in Arrasate (Gipuzkoa) from unknown causes while working in a manhole on Galicia Street in the Santa Teresa district, as reported by the Security Department.
The industrial accident occurred at 4:30 PM and local police and firefighters went to the scene and rescued the worker from the manhole, which was about three meters deep.
Once taken out, paramedics could only confirm his death.
Sixteen people have already died this year in industrial accidents in Hego Euskal Herria, six in Navarra and ten in Euskadi. In this line, Euskadi recorded 4,059 work-related accidents with absenteeism in the first month of this year, which represents an increase of 29.6% compared to the same month last year, with 926 more accidents.
