An unpredictable rockslide caused commotion near Abtenau on Sunday evening when a ten-ton boulder hit the B162 Lammertaler Bundesstraße near Vo Glauberg – injuring two people. A further assessment of the damage site was carried out in daylight to discuss possible protective measures.
The B162 is now freely accessible again from both directions after the boulder has been removed and the broken rock protection has been temporarily secured with concrete protective walls.
State geologist Ludwig Fegerl examined the accident site again in daylight and concluded: “There is currently no acute danger, but future demolition cannot be ruled out. Therefore, additional protection measures will be discussed in consultation with the landowner in the next step. There are several options that are being explored.”
