On Monday morning, after a long break, the climate activists of the last generation were back on the road in Vienna. This time they ended up in the middle of an intersection in Favoriten, once again causing chaos in early morning traffic.
Shortly after 8 a.m., several participants sat on the street with banners (“Right to Survive!”) and blocked traffic to draw attention to the climate crisis.
Chained to vehicles
A little later they also blocked traffic on the A23 by chaining themselves to several vehicles. But here too the glue was used again.
Police on site
The police also quickly arrived on the scene to interrupt the unannounced action. Traffic had to be diverted. According to the ÖAMTC, there were four to five kilometers of traffic jams on the A23, “and the trend is increasing”.
“Radical reconsideration”
The activists of the last generation are calling for a “radical rethink” of the issue of the climate crisis. For example, they call for a ban on fracking and a speed limit of 100 km/h throughout Austria. They also want to use their new slogan ‘Right to Survive’ to draw attention to the enshrinement of climate protection in the constitution.
