Anyone who wants to enter the parliament building in Vienna on Wednesday morning must first pass numerous climate activists. As they sit there, members of the Last Generation block the entrance. The police are on the scene.
This is now the third day in a row that Last Generation activists have launched a protest. After the so-called climate gluers gathered in front of Schönbrunn Palace on Tuesday with a pile of manure intended to illustrate climate policy, the group is now blocking access to parliament.
Activist Windl was there again
The members have lined up in front of the entrance, not sticking around, but sitting. In the foreground is the well-known activist Anja Windl. The climate activist was in custody in Josefstadt prison in November last year. The young woman was arrested during protests – again in front of parliament. At the time of the incident, there was suspicion of serious material damage.
No statement from the group about Wednesday’s action has yet appeared on social media. But the day before, the Last Generation had already protested against Chancellor Karl Nehammer’s climate policy.
