“What we produce is quality meat, which is also recognized outside the territory, but we do not receive the price that is owed to us under any circumstances”, denounce the baserritarras, who assure that they assume an 80% increase in the grain price alone. , which are “essential in calf fattening”.

The Basque farmers have taken advantage of the concentration to call on the group of agents of the meat chain who buy meat locally, so that they align the purchase prices with the current cost situation and the amounts received in other autonomous communities.

“The minimum price should be about 6 euros per kilo in the carcass if all of them, i.e. butchers, distribution and Euskal OkelaThey want Basque meat to remain available in their shops and butchers,” they warn.

The EHNE and ENBA unions have also asked all farmers, large and small, to “defend the price of their calves”.

They have also announced that they will be shipping beef outside the Basque Country, specifically “to other markets where it will be valued more if it is not valued in this fair way”.

They predict that “Euskal Okela and his flesh will become history” if a “quick and firm response to this situation” is not provided.
