Nearly eleven months ago, the body of a Czech man was discovered in a gravel pit in Schönkirchen-Reyersdorf (Gänserndorf district in Lower Austria). Part of the mystery – surrounding suspicious excavation work near the site – has now been solved, but that did not get the detectives any further…
The suspicious sightings of the woman in the “Fuchsenwald” at the end of Gänserndorf-Süd date back to February 24, 2023. On Tuesday, the state police headquarters issued a public request for information, as a connection with the case could not be ruled out. .
It is now clear – after receiving several tips and questions from the State Criminal Investigation Department of Lower Austria – that there is no connection with the discovery of the body. According to police reports, it was young people who dug the well on Wednesday. The “matter has been clarified,” it said briefly – no further details were given.
But what happened to Radek B.?
The dead man was discovered on March 30, 2023 on a business premises in Schönkirchen-Reyersdorf. Because the discovery situation was worrying, the State Criminal Investigation Department took over the investigation. The Korneuburg Public Prosecutor’s Office has ordered an autopsy on the body. In cooperation with the Czech police authorities, it was possible to identify the man as Radek B. According to the Lower Austrian State Police Directorate, a family member had already reported the disappearance to the Brno criminal investigation department on January 10 last year.
National and international research showed that Radek B. had probably traveled by train from the Czech Republic via Slovakia to Austria four days earlier. On the afternoon of January 6, the 39-year-old was in the Gänserndorf district, in the Marchegg region and in the evening in the Gänserndorf region.
Radek B. has occasionally been to Vienna in the past, where he may have worked in plasterboard construction on construction sites. According to police, there was no information about contact persons or addresses from the time of entry into Austria on January 6 until the body was found on March 30.

Corpse moved after death
According to the State Police Directorate, the report of a forensic medical expert showed that due to the questionable finding situation (scarce clothing, no personal items) “it can be assumed that the body was transported and dumped postmortem” in Schönkichen-Reyersdorf.
For tactical reasons, no information is given about the cause of death.
