Search pressure too high – coup in a gambling shop: robbers have turned themselves in to the police

Date:

A few days after the mugshots were published in the media, handcuffs were snapped on two gambling shop robbers. The duo handed themselves over to authorities. Together they attacked a small restaurant in Klagenfurt in early January.

Wearing balaclavas and hoods and wearing black, the criminals stormed the restaurant on Florian-Gröger-Straße on January 11 at 12:29 p.m., threatened the employee with a silver-colored pistol and demanded cash with a southern accent. After the employee opened the cash drawer, the duo put approximately 5,800 euros in the backpack they brought with them and fled.

Despite a large contingent of patrol cars including the Cobra task force, the rapid intervention group, a sniffer dog and with air support from the police helicopter ‘Flir’, the criminals were able to escape. The investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department was in full swing, which eventually led to images of the suspects being captured on surrounding surveillance cameras.

Croats lived in Spittal an der Drau
Which were then published about two weeks ago in the “Krone”, among others. The apparently decisive step in the search: The public “hunt” apparently caused the pressure to become so great that the two suspects decided to extradite themselves. Just four days after the report, the first of the two, a Croat (17), living in Spittal an der Drau, walked into the state criminal investigation office.

Wasted loot in bars
Five days later, his same-age peer finally turned himself in. As the two suspected robbers confessed during interrogation, after the robbery they traveled directly to their home country Croatia – where they spent the stolen money in various bars.
