Internet star Gertrude Lechner, aka ‘Trude Grandma’ and award-winning chef Christoph Vogler had the chopped vegetables chilled for the next day – but there couldn’t be enough ‘Knofi’ for that. In the kitchen of the Aelium in St. Pölten they cooked a pork roast together à la Grandma Trude. The 92-year-old from Wachau entertains more than 100,000 people on TikTok with her short videos. Granddaughter Kathrin manages the cheerful great-grandmother.

Trude feels at home in the kitchen. For years she stood behind the stove in her husband’s inn in Aggsbach in the Melk district. She recently showed award-winning chef Christoph Vogler how to prepare her roast pork. There were also real Waldviertler dumplings. “That’s how my grandmother always prepared them,” Vogler tells the 92-year-old. “The old people aren’t stupid either!” she replies cheekily.
