After a mild start to the week, the weather quickly becomes more unstable and especially cooler. As forecasters predict, 17 degrees is expected on Monday. Then winter temperatures return. In the morning the values can even go back to minus degrees.
According to meteorologists from Geosphere Austria, a weak influence of low pressure will bring denser cloud cover at the start of the working week, especially in the west and south, as well as some short, unproductive rain and snow showers above 1,500 meters above sea level. Everywhere else, the sun dominates during the day after the fog has lifted. Maximum daytime temperatures can reach ten to even 17 degrees.
Possibly minus two degrees in the morning
A weak disturbance influence will cause some clouds and light precipitation in the form of showers during the day on Tuesday, with a focus north of the main Alpine ridge in the morning and in the south and southeast in the afternoon. In the eastern Danube region the wind is sometimes strong. In the morning temperatures are minus two to plus seven degrees – daily maximum temperatures are seven to 15 degrees.
Sunny periods only last for a short time
It will remain mainly cloudy on Wednesday and sunny spells will generally be short-lived. In the far west and southwest it rains or snows for a longer period of time during the day. The snowfall limit is between 1000 and 1500 meters. As the day progresses, precipitation extends further east and in the afternoon there are only longer dry phases from Lower Austria to Burgenland. During the day, temperatures up to 13 degrees are possible.
Temperatures are milder in the west
The weather will be better again on Thursday. The day starts cloudy and overcast. Some rain or snow may fall along and for a long time south of the main Alpine ridge. The snowfall limit is between 1400 and 1600 meters above sea level. Towards the west there is more sun and mild temperatures. The afternoon can also be quite sunny from Salzburg to the east. Early temperatures will reach minus one to plus five degrees, daily maximum temperatures six to 14 degrees.
Sun again on Friday
Friday will start south of the main Alpine ridge with some fog fields and remaining clouds, which sometimes disappear only hesitantly. Otherwise the sun shines brightly and only a few innocent clouds pass by. The wind blows only weakly from east to south. Daily maximum temperatures will rise again to 15 degrees.
