The central vocational school at Linke Wienzeile in Vienna-Margareten was surrounded by police cars in the morning hours. Students hid in classrooms and peered anxiously out the windows. A student was reportedly seen with a gun and a protective vest.
In the videos of a ‘Krone’ reader reporter you can see how students barricade themselves in the classrooms. For this they use everything they have available, such as armchairs and tables.
Meanwhile, the Cobra task force and the police stormed the school. A police tank also drove up. After searching the school floor by floor, officers eventually found the student they were looking for with a paintball marker or a toy gun.
The circumstances are being clarified in ongoing investigations and the measures taken in the school environment have been gradually scaled back. There were no reports of injuries.
