At the entrance to the Pesenbachtal in Feldkirchen an der Donau it says “BLOCKED”. There are also scissor gates and barrier tapes. But again they did not stop hikers from endangering their lives. On Sunday, firefighters had to go out to retrieve an injured hiker from the valley.
The helpers of the volunteer fire brigade of Bad Mühllacken (Feldkirchen an der Donau district) were surprised when they were called for a rescue operation in the Pesenbachtal: a hiker had injured himself and could no longer continue.
Nothing special in itself, but as is known, the nature reserve is currently closed – the snow has crushed trees and there is also a danger of falling stones.
That is why the Florianijüngers did not actually expect that a rescue operation would be necessary here – apart from industrial accidents while dealing with the damage. However, in the past, hikers had repeatedly ignored warnings and deliberately put themselves in danger.
Rescue on the tractor
The Florianijüngers were able to take the injured man on a stretcher and with the help of a tractor along a path to safety to a nearby inn, where he was handed over to the rescue team for removal.
