Driver injured; sweeper hurled car into shop during accident

Date:

Ten tons of combat weight, that’s what a sweeper truck that drove through Spittal (Carinthia) with an orange warning light on Monday weighed. When he drove into a square, an accident happened.

Neither driver was likely particularly attentive. “When the sweeper truck turned right into the square with its flashlights turned on, an 83-year-old woman was driving north. The truck collided head-on with the right side of the car,” police said. “The force of the impact threw the 83-year-old’s car head-on into an arcade shop.”

The extent of the damage is still unclear
Sculptures and decorative objects were stored there and were badly damaged; the extent of the damage has not yet been determined. “The 83-year-old was taken to Spittal Hospital for outpatient treatment. The driver of the sweeper truck was uninjured,” police said. However, the two vehicles involved in the accident were significantly damaged.
