A 76-year-old woman is believed to have surprised several burglars in her home in Untertullnerbach (Lower Austria). The unknown persons then tied up the pensioner and left her helpless. She was only found after about 15 hours.
Criminals were apparently caught red-handed at the end of February after gaining access through a broken door. While searching for valuables, the resident (76) suddenly appeared in front of them. The probably two or three visibly surprised men tied the shocked pensioner to a chair and ran off with a small amount of money.
“Victim was very lucky”
It wasn’t until about 15 hours later that friends who regularly cared for her stopped by and discovered the woman. They immediately made an emergency call. “The victim was very lucky,” said one of the investigators. Because the cuffs were tied so tightly that blood circulation was already obstructed. Moreover, they were hidden under blankets and clothes – an absolutely exceptional situation for the pensioner, both physically and mentally.
The woman was taken to hospital and received medical treatment. The 76-year-old is now doing well and is back home. But she will have to struggle with the shock for a long time.
No abuse
In this case it is unlikely that there was a classic home burglary such as recently occurred in Würnitz in the Korneuburg district, where three perpetrators were also caught red-handed by the homeowners and one of the criminals was even shot. “The burglars did not expect anyone to be in the house. “In addition, as usual, the woman was not brutally abused to obtain as much loot as possible,” said a police officer.
