Accident drama in Lower Austria – evasive maneuvers on country road: 20-year-old dead!

One dead and two seriously injured after a tragic accident in the Baden district (Lower Austria): The 22-year-old driver from Vienna tried to avoid a deer in his car and fell down an embankment.

A tragic accident near Klausen-Leopoldsdorf in the Baden district claimed one life on Sunday evening. A 22-year-old driver drove his car off the road on the L 2111 around 10:30 p.m., fell over an embankment and ended up in a ditch.

Stuck in the car
The crash left his two passengers trapped in the car and seriously injured. Alarmed police officers came to the aid of the young men, while another helped two others, including the driver, to the side of the road.

Car was not registered
A 20-year-old had to be resuscitated on the spot by the emergency doctor. He was flown by rescue helicopter to hospital, where he died shortly afterwards. Another 22-year-old was seriously injured and taken to Vienna General Hospital.

The 22-year-old driver said he swerved to avoid a deer. He escaped with minor injuries. The car would also not have been registered for traffic. The police investigation into the origin of the vehicle and its license plate is still ongoing. The accident scene was closed to traffic until shortly after midnight.
