After the first car acceptance took place in Vienna at the beginning of March, a speeder (21) in Lower Austria also had to hand in his car. On Saturday he drove on the A22 at no less than 247 km/h instead of the permitted 130 km/h.
Motorway police officers followed the speeder and stopped it at the Korneuburg rest stop. The car was temporarily seized and the driver’s license of the man from the Mistelbach district was taken away.
Report submitted
The man will be reported to the district administration. According to the police, this is probably the first case in Lower Austria where a speeding offender had to give up his car.
Acceptance possible again in Vienna
Another driver in Vienna is again threatened with the confiscation of his car. During police speed measurements on Friday evening on Laaerbergstrasse in Vienna-Favoriten, the man drove 117 km/h instead of the permitted 50 km/h.
New change since March 1
Since March 1, vehicles of speed offenders can be seized on the spot if they are flagrantly exceeded and then auctioned. The basis is the 34th amendment to the Road Traffic Act (StVO). Temporary seizures have also taken place in other states.
