It is the first speeding car that Vorarlberg police have seized since traffic fines were tightened on March 1. It remains to be seen whether the alcoholic driver will ever see his Audi A6 with more than 200 hp again.
The director didn’t have to look for the speeder for long. The man in his thirties charged at a police patrol on L188 on Monday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. Due to his excessive speed, he apparently went into oncoming traffic and endangered other road users.
The officers did not hesitate long and immediately pulled the Audi driver, who was driving more than 140 goods in the area of St. Gallenkirch/Gortipol, out of traffic. During the inspection it also became clear that the driver was not just driving at high speed. The alcohol test showed a value well above one permille.
The driver’s license and the driver’s vehicle were confiscated after consultation with those responsible at the Bludenz BH due to the high speed limit. “The Audi is currently in a warehouse in the Bregenz region,” explains Rudolf Salzgeber, commander of the state transport department. The district council decides whether the owner will see his car again.
“There we check whether he has already been noticed,” says Salzgeber, describing the procedure. If this is the case, the car is gone. If not, there is still a chance that the Oberlander will get his Audi back. Due to the many violations, it is unlikely that he will remain behind the wheel for long.
