A mountaineer got lost on Tuesday during his descent into the valley in the Tyrolean town of Ausserfern. When the 33-year-old German asked a local friend (24) for help by telephone, she crashed. The injured woman was able to fight her way back, where she was found completely exhausted by the 24-year-old who had gone to search.
The accident happened around 12.30 pm while descending the 2,340 meter high “Daniel”. The 33-year-old German fell off the path due to several snow fields and completely lost her orientation.
Contacted local acquaintances
“To draw attention to her plight, the woman contacted a local acquaintance, a 24-year-old Austrian, who then informed emergency services,” police said.
And then it happened: “During the phone call, the 33-year-old suddenly slipped on a snow field and fell about eight to 10 meters,” the investigators continued. She suffered injuries to her right forearm.
Familiar went to take a look
The mountain climber eventually found his way back to the hiking trail. “She was finally found at 3:10 p.m., completely exhausted, under the Bichlbacher Alm by her friend, who had independently started looking for her.”
Also present: the mountain rescue teams Ehrwald, Lermoos and Bichlbach and the Alpine police. Due to the foggy weather conditions, the use of a helicopter was not possible.
