A man survived an alligator attack on Sunday after his boat capsized in Florida’s Everglades National Park. 68-year-old Rodrigo Constain was in the water trying to right his boat when a crocodile suddenly bit his leg for several seconds.
The victim reported the dramatic situation: “I know my leg was trapped. So I put my hands in his mouth, it was a long mouth. That’s why it’s a crocodile and not an alligator.”
Bites wound extended to the bone
Rangers were eventually able to pull Constain from the water and he was flown to hospital. According to doctors, the bite wound extends to the bone. It will take a month for the man to recover.
American crocodiles are considered endangered. There are 1.8 million alligators and only 2,000 crocodiles in the Everglades. Attacks are rare; the last attack on a person took place ten years ago
