While we continue to eagerly await the announcement of the new Bond, the southern German publisher Cross Cult is easing our wait with the perfect book about the Daniel Craig era, the longest Bond era in film history (from 2006-2021!). Saying goodbye: As a KronePLUS subscriber you now have the chance to receive a beautiful photo and making-of bundle with exclusive behind-the-scenes photos of all five Daniel Craig Bonds. A fascinating contemporary film document and a must for every 007 fan!
Daniel Craig began his career as James Bond in 2006 with Casino Royale, the highly anticipated film adaptation of Ian Fleming’s 007 origin story. It became the highest-grossing Bond film of all time (and was later eclipsed by Skyfall). One thing is certain: Craig has breathed new life into the franchise with his portrayal of Bond. In 2021, the Daniel Craig era came to an end. The 256-page illustrated book “Being Bond: Daniel Craig – A Review” offers a look back at Craig’s five James Bond films as 007: “Casino Royale”, “Quantum of Solace”, “Skyfall”, “SPECTRE” and “None Time to die.”
The new lavishly illustrated book takes the reader behind the scenes of his five films as James Bond, revealing the stories behind the making of the films with exclusive film location photos, concept drawings, costume designs, stunt accidents and more, accompanied by interviews with the cast and crew.
This is what the bond expert says about the new beautiful volume
“Daniel Craig changed everything with his portrayal of James Bond: Bond became human, showed emotions and he died! “It’s not for everyone, but hardly any actor before him has brought 007 to the big screen with more variety,” says German Bond expert Danny Morgenstern in an interview with krone.at, with respect for the mime artist. After his departure from the series, Cross Cult mwith the German edition of “The walking Bond encyclopedia on two legs is convinced that ‘Being Bond: Daniel Craig – A Review’ has achieved another coup.
“Illustrated book belongs on every bookshelf”
Not only has the publisher translated long-forgotten 007 novels into German for the first time, Mark Salisbury’s 256-page illustrated book pays tribute to the achievements of Daniel Craig, who became one of the most successful Bond actors of all time with his five films. “The extensively illustrated book belongs on every bookshelf, because here you not only experience 007, but you can also see what happened behind the scenes in fascinating photos. You will understand how the films were made, gain insight into concept drawings, costume designs and learn about filming locations and accidents during stunts. The book concludes with interviews with the cast and crew,” said Morgenstern.
Replacing the cast will be “damn difficult” for producers
The German Bond expert also gives his opinion on the next Bond: “Even if Daniel Craig had as many opponents as supporters: with his embodiment of James Bond he shaped an entire generation. Now that Craig has been associated with the James Bond character for 15 years, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are going to have a damn hard time resetting the 007 character to factory settings in “Bond 26.” And it will take time: fans of the British secret agent will hardly be presented with anything new before 2026.”
Another reason to reminisce about the past and revisit the Craig Bond films, both in home theater and in this great book “Being Bond: Daniel Craig – A Review,” says Morgenstern, who has numerous books written, including a 1700 strong Bond lexicon, “Useless James Bond Knowledge” and the successful XXS series “Making of” about the Bond films. He also regularly appears on stage as part of the ‘James Bond Tribute Concert’ program and organizes the ‘Mission Bond’ conventions in Braunschweig.
