Now DNA comparison – despite autopsy: identity of burned body unclear

Date:

The identity of the body discovered on Thursday in a burned-out old farmhouse in the Tyrolean Wildschönau (Kufstein district) remains unclear. Even an autopsy could not clarify whether it was actually the missing resident. Now a DNA comparison should solve the mystery.

“The autopsy has now taken place. “But the identity could not be clarified,” said Philipp Rapold of the LKA Tirol on Friday afternoon when asked by “Krone”. The body was badly burned and now an attempt will be made to clarify its identity through DNA comparison.

The cause of the fire remains unclear
This could take a long time now. It is currently not possible to estimate when an outcome can be expected, Rapold continued. The cause of the fire is also completely unclear. Researchers from the National Criminal Investigation Department were still on site with experts on Friday.

The old farmhouse in the Oberau district caught fire around 2 a.m. on Thursday night. More than a hundred firefighters from across the region then battled the flaming inferno. The fire could not be finally extinguished until later in the day.

Great fear for a resident
One of the two residents was considered missing. The police had already told the “Krone” on Thursday morning that it could not be ruled out that this person was still in the building when the fire broke out. In the afternoon, a body was finally discovered in the ruins of the fire. However, only DNA comparison will provide definitive certainty about identity.
