The main suspects are a 43-year-old Croat and two North Macedonians, aged 31 and 42.
Drugs, cell phones, cash seized
So far 19 searches have been carried out – most in Tyrol, but also one in Lower Austria and Bavaria. “Including 155 grams of cocaine, 8,500 euros in cash, a manslaughter and numerous mobile phones and other evidence such as extenders, packaging material and narcotic paraphernalia have been seized,” the lead investigator continues.
First, the three main suspects – as well as the wife of the 31-year-old North Macedonian – were arrested in the Zillertal and Munich on suspicion of money laundering. “This was followed by further investigations and police access to the Tyrolean network of intermediaries and buyers. To date, a total of 17 intermediaries between the ages of 17 and 39 of different nationalities have been identified and 16 of them arrested. One person is still being sought,” emphasizes. tersch.
So far, 30 people have been identified as buyers. They were reported to the Innsbruck prosecutor’s office.
Coke smuggled from Germany to the Zillertal
According to the current state of the investigation, the cocaine was obtained in Germany and smuggled into the Zillertal during several transport journeys, from where it was sold on to numerous intermediaries and buyers. “This usually happened in short meetings at different times and especially in public areas such as parking lots and sports fields, but also in several pubs in the Zillertal and Innsbruck area,” explains Tersch.
Pre-trial detention has been imposed on the three main suspects and six intermediaries, while all others have been reported.
