The Councilor for Mobility and Sustainability of the Bilbao City Council, Nora Abete, stated that “to date” they have not found a solution to the conflict in Bilbobus and continue to look for formulas “with legal guarantees” because the formulas that have been proposed “find no legal support. After pointing out that the Collective labor agreement with employees extended until 2021 and since then there has been no renewal of the employees’ salary table. He stated that the company “provides the service as established and pays employees what they agreed to.”
The council member added that the problem is that the company is telling them it cannot take “a new salary increase” because “this would mean a strong economic imbalance in the contract and its economic bankruptcy.”
Nora Abete acknowledged that the workers, in turn, are “legitimately demanding a salary increase” because “their salaries have been frozen since 2021.”
