Swiss police stopped an illegal act by Austrian right-wing extremist Martin Sellner in Tegerfelden in the canton of Aargau on Saturday and then sent him away. As the cantonal police announced, there were about 100 people at the “Junge Tat” event. The police intervened because the event did not take place, even though the landlord had canceled the contract with knowledge of the content of the event.
“To ensure public safety and avoid confrontations with people from the opposing party, the speaker at the event was stopped and sent away from the cantonal area,” the statement said, referring to Sellner. The police were also able to prevent political opponents from arriving.
Sellner portrays himself as a “push-back” victim
Sellner attempted to use the incident for propaganda purposes in a video shared on social media. He used the term to describe the violent pushback against migrants and spoke in the video about a “push-back”, in which he sat in the backseat of a car in a good mood.
He joked about the deportation notice from the cantonal police by holding a piece of paper with the borders of the eastern Swiss canton in red in front of the camera. At the same time he thanked the neighboring canton of Zurich, where he was apparently traveling, for receiving him. “Today you have made the idea of remigration world famous in the canton of Aargau. “Thank you very much to the Kapo,” he said, referring to the cantonal police.
The term ‘remigration’ means nothing more than the violent mass deportation of people whose right of residence has been denied. By this we mean not only illegal immigrants, but also legal immigrants or even naturalized people who do not like right-wing extremists like Sellner.
Sellner also promoted his idea last November during a meeting with high-ranking right-wing extremists, including politicians from the right-wing populist AfD. As a result, there were mass demonstrations against right-wing extremism in numerous German cities, as well as in Austria. In Austria, leading FPÖ politicians support Sellner’s ideas.
