Serious accident on Saturday evening in Kössen (Kitzbühel district)! On the soaked road, the steering wheel of a pickup skidded and went off the road. He crashed into several trees. He and a prisoner were injured. The road remained closed for two hours.
The 36-year-old resident was driving his car on Klobensteiner Strasse with four other people around 9 p.m. In a right turn he slid across the rain-soaked road and then veered off the road to the left.
The vehicle then collided with several trees on a steep slope and came to rest on the passenger side after approximately 20 meters. All occupants were able to free themselves from the accident car.
Gasoline ignited
Shortly after the five people exited the vehicle, they discovered that gasoline had leaked and set on fire. There was a gas bottle in the back of the car. “The men were able to extinguish the fire themselves with a fire extinguisher they had with them and made an emergency call,” the police said. The 36-year-old driver and a 19-year-old passenger were slightly injured. All other occupants were unharmed. Significant damage was caused to the vehicle.
The dense forest and steep embankment made recovering the vehicle difficult. Therefore, the road had to be closed to all traffic for about two hours. The Kössen fire brigade, the Kössen mountain rescue service, the rescue service, an emergency doctor and the police were present.
