Handlebar has guardian angel – liquid latex leaks after horror accident

Date:

A tanker truck had an accident on Monday morning, tipped over on its side and immediately caught fire. Three fire brigades were deployed and fought the flames. The accident caused latex to leak from the tanker.

A tanker fire affected three fire departments on Monday morning. The driver was rescued before the vehicle started burning. “How the accident could have happened is currently the subject of the police investigation,” a spokesperson for the fire brigade told the Crown.

Liquid latex was leaking
The Breitenau, Aspern and Neunkirchen fire brigades are still on site with large tank fire engines. The fire has now been extinguished, but the operation is still ongoing because latex milk – i.e. liquid latex – escaped from the tanker as a result of the accident. “That will take a long time,” said the fire brigade spokesperson.

The accident resulted in a short closure of the southern motorway (A2) between Wiener Neustadt and the Seebenstein junction.

According to Marc Römer of the ÖAMTC, the road towards Graz was affected. It was advised to take the B17. As a result, one lane of the A2 was reopened, the spokesperson said.
