Observers report: – Russians punished for “fake” ballots

Date:

Election observers from the independent Russian organization Golos have now reported unprecedented violations in the presidential election. “We have never seen a presidential election that so poorly meets the standards of the Constitution,” the organization said Monday.

The entire state apparatus depended on propaganda, coercion and voter control. War censorship was even introduced through fear mongering and violence. Particularly on Sunday, the last day of the three-day voting, security forces punished voters for “incorrectly” filling out ballots. People were also forced to break the secrecy of voting. “Nothing like this has ever happened before in an election.”

No access to polling stations
Independent observers were not even allowed to enter the polling stations or view video footage. During the recent elections in Russia, videos appeared on the Internet showing, for example, ballot boxes full of ballots that have already been filled out in advance.

Observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) were also not invited this time. Your evaluation is important to get a result internationally recognized. In last week’s elections it was impossible for the population to form and express free will, the Golos organization said. Therefore, the results may not reflect the vote.

Another decade in power?
As reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin received 87.3 percent of the vote for his fifth term – more than ever before (see video above). As early as 2020, the ruler had the constitution amended to allow for additional terms in office. Originally only two were allowed. Under the current constitution, Putin can run for his sixth and final term in office in 2030.
