As is known, love often makes you blind – or, as in this case, in good faith: a 55-year-old woman from Innsbruck was coldly conned by an unscrupulous love fraudster on the Internet. The stranger told the woman several lies and persuaded her to transfer more than 10,000 euros to foreign accounts.
The 55-year-old from Innsbruck was approached by a stranger on a dating platform in November. As is often the case in such cases, contact intensified – and some lies were apparently told.
The locals fell for the scam. “The unknown person managed to entice the 55-year-old almost every day until March 12 to transfer a small amount of money to various foreign accounts,” the police report.
The five-figure amount is gone
In total, the Tyrolean transferred more than 10,000 euros. All the money is gone – and of course there is no trace of the perpetrator. The next time she flirts online, the woman will – hopefully – be more suspicious.
