A dozen people were killed in a serious bus accident in a highway tunnel in China on Tuesday afternoon. There were a total of 51 people on the bus.
Fourteen people were killed and 37 injured when a bus collided with the tunnel wall on the G59 highway in northern Shanxi province, state news agency Xinhua reported on Wednesday. It is initially unclear how the collision could have happened on Tuesday afternoon (local time).
The cause of the accident is still completely unclear
The accident site was near the city of Linfen, about 360 kilometers away from the megacity of Xi’An, where the world-famous Terracotta Army is located. Rescuers took the injured to nearby hospitals. According to the information, the bus came from Henan province. The media provided no information about further damage in the tunnel.
