430 helpers were deployed to look for the 86-year-old in Miesenbach near Birkfeld. But unfortunately without success: on Tuesday the dementia patient was found dead in a stream bed. Now the family is left with nothing but sadness – and gratitude for the support.
The 87-year-old man was missing for seven days and was finally found on Tuesday. But unfortunately not alive. The dementia patient from Miesenbach in Eastern Styria was found dead in a stream bed a short walk from his home.
The family would like to thank all the helpers
Painful news for the family and all care providers. “We look back with great gratitude on the support and solidarity of the past few days,” family members posted on Facebook. About 430 emergency personnel from the fire brigade, police, rescue services and private individuals assisted in the search. They roamed 530 hectares – including helicopters and drones – but unfortunately without success.
The search was stopped last Saturday. Nearly half a week later, community workers discovered the 87-year-old’s body in a stream in Birkfeld. Police were able to identify the person they were looking for and had to confirm his death.
