A suspected criminal case at Raiffeisenbank Flachgau Mitte has brought the Raiffeisenverband Salzburg (RVS) onto the scene. Loans worth more than 20 million euros have been provided to three project developers. The bank is experiencing loan defaults due to suspected embezzlement.
Dr. Wolfgang Kleibel, RVS lawyer and chairman of the Salzburg Bar Association, explained the facts: Raiffeisenbank Flachgau Mitte had provided loans worth more than 20 million euros to three project developers. There is alleged embezzlement on the part of the trustees involved, whereby the loans paid out were not used in accordance with their intended purpose and the guarantee in the land registry was not properly executed.
There is a suspected breach of the trusteeship and the responsible Vienna Bar Association has already been contacted. Further details cannot be provided at this time as the comprehensive review of the processes has not yet been completed.
Managing Director Heinz Konrad emphasized that customers of Raiffeisenbank Flachgau Mitte will not suffer any damage as a result. The RVS is ready with all its economic strength to ensure that all obligations towards business and private customers are met. Daily business in the four bank branches Bergheim, Eugendorf, Hallwang and Plainfeld will continue as usual with approximately 40 employees.
When the “Krone” asked the Salzburg police for advice, press spokeswoman Karin Temel said: “We have not received any reports.”
