A child in Klagenfurt found Michaela Grabner’s e-card, which had disappeared without a trace since 2006. Is she still alive?
Is there a surprising turnaround in the case of the missing Klagenfurt woman? The then 23-year-old suddenly disappeared in February 2006.
18 years later, a new clue has now surfaced. On March 9, a child while playing on the Glan in Klagenfurt saw a handbag floating in the water and fished it out. Inside was a wallet and an e-card with the name Michaela Grabner.
The investigations were resumed
The child brought his discovery to the parents, who researched it on the Internet and eventually called the police. After officials determined it was the missing person’s document, the investigation immediately resumed.
Traced to Paraguay
Until now, investigators assumed that the woman from Klagenfurt was the victim of a murder. Their trail was even followed as far as Paraguay, where Carinthian investigators arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for the deaths of the missing persons. However, he has denied every accusation.
To this day, it is not clear whether the missing person was actually the victim of a crime. In January 2011, cadaver dogs even searched for her in the south of Klagenfurt, but without results.
