In St. Michael im Lungau, a serious traffic accident occurred on the B99 near the roundabout near the sports center in the early hours of Thursday morning. A car collided with the embankment, was thrown into the air and eventually came to a stop on the other side of the road. The driver of the car was trapped in the accident.
The St. Michael Fire Department responded to the scene with three vehicles and 19 men. With the help of hydraulic rescue equipment, the emergency services managed to free the trapped driver. At the same time, the site was secured and support measures were taken by the Red Cross.
The road maintenance department took over the cleaning duties while the police conducted the accident investigation. One person was transported to Tamsweg Hospital with unknown injuries. The operation lasted from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Car crashed into streambed
A car had also fallen into a stream bed in Lungau an hour earlier. For an unknown reason, the vehicle slid over a steep embankment in Mauterndorf into the Taurrach stream bed. The driver left his car unharmed and independently.
