“It’s only a matter of time before something terrible happens”: this warning from a family man in the “crown” also shocked the owner of the property, who does his business in Dubai most of the year. Now there was an inspection at the mayor’s – with clear results!
Children playing on rotten roofs, young people using dilapidated buildings as adventure playgrounds and meeting places: “It’s only a matter of time before something terrible happens!”, a father raised the alarm via “Krone” after a walk around Seefelder Wildsee. The guest house “Waldruh” and two adjacent houses on the property of the same owner are located directly on the shore on the busy boulevard around the lake – an eyesore, and also not safe.
Deteriorated for 30 years
The ‘Krone’ reports even alarmed the owner – an Austrian entrepreneur who often stays in Dubai on business. Last week he contacted Reither Mayor Dominik Hiltpolt and asked for a meeting. This happened on Wednesday at the scene of the incident. It was apparently the owner’s first visit in many years. The buildings on his 5,000-square-foot lakefront estate have been in disrepair for more than three decades.
No danger looming
The inspection of the property, which contains three businesses previously used for tourism, lasted an hour and a half. “Upon inspection of the buildings, it was discovered that the structure of the building was in a visually dilapidated state due to years of vacancy, but no potential danger to people could be identified at this time, either outside or inside,” Mayor Hiltpolt reported.
General tenor: “Demolition is inevitable”
“During the conversation, I made it clear to the owner the community’s position that the situation cannot continue as the building structure will further deteriorate and the cityscape in the popular local recreation area directly on the Wildsee will suffer enormously. Before real danger spots arise here and the place is further visited by vandals, it has been agreed after constructive consultation that demolition of the buildings is inevitable and that appropriate measures will be taken quickly by the owner,” reports the village boss.
Village boss expects activities this year
But the fact is that a total demolition will cost a lot of money. Hiltpolt does not dare to estimate how much. A subsidy from the municipality is no problem, after all, the area is a private matter. Just like a possible sale. But that was not a problem during the meeting.
