A father from Burgenland who caught a criminal in his home on Sunday evening responded courageously. The perpetrator had already prepared the loot for transport in the basement. The owner of the house bravely pushed him into a wooden hut and stood guard outside the door, ‘armed’ with a shovel, until the police arrived. The young Romanian was taken away in handcuffs. It is being investigated whether the perpetrator had accomplices.
After a pleasant Saturday evening with his wife and son, Peter F. went to bed at 11:50 PM. Before he could even fall asleep, the father of the Pinkafeld family heard suspicious noises coming from the basement.
“I immediately checked my mobile phone and checked the recordings from my surveillance cameras,” says the 42-year-old: “When I noticed that our gate was open, I already had a bad feeling.”
Thief stood there with beer in hand
A look at the video footage from the second camera quickly confirmed the fear. To the landlord’s horror, an intruder could be seen in the shadows of the courtyard. Peter F. alerted the police. “Is there anyone?” the owner of the house then shouted into the basement. When there was silence, he investigated the matter without hesitation.
