Major concerns after the suspected arson of a 52-year-old homeless man in Graz. The man had previously rejected offers of help. The “Krone” asked around the VinziDorf in Graz.
“My life on the street was always associated with fear,” says Gregor Weiss to “Krone”, who recently met the VinziDorf resident in Graz for an interview. The Styrian lived as a homeless person in the state capital for twenty years and experienced violence firsthand. “I was often threatened,” he remembers the verbal attacks, “at night many people are out and about like vampires.” Once three young people stood in front of him with a knife and wanted to ‘stab’ him; another time a man demanded sex. “‘Otherwise I’ll kill you!’ he said.”
