In a serious accident on Sunday evening in Pöllau (Styria), all help came too late for all three people involved. The force of the collision sent both vehicles several meters off the road. A 17-year-old and a married couple died at the scene of the accident.
A tragic traffic accident took place on Schloffereckstrasse (L406) between Köppelreith and Pöllau on Sunday around 8:15 p.m. For reasons that are still unclear, two oncoming vehicles collided head-on. The force of the collision threw both vehicles into an adjacent field. The following vehicle drivers immediately called 911.
Died at the scene of the accident
45 emergency services from the Pöllau fire brigade, 13 emergency services, an emergency doctor and the C17 rescue helicopter quickly arrived at the scene of the accident. All help came too late for the three people involved in the accident, a couple (61, 59) from the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district and a young person (17) from the Weiz district. A crisis intervention team was set up for the relatives.
Cause still unclear
According to investigating officers, the cause of the accident is currently unclear. The Graz public prosecutor released the bodies for burial.
