The Last Generation once again drew attention to the climate crisis by blocking early morning traffic on the A9 Pyhrnautobahn in Styria. With their protest they demand a fundamental right to climate protection in the constitution.
Just after 8 a.m., a total of nine participants lined up in the middle of the street, once again causing chaos in the early morning traffic. The police also quickly arrived on the scene to end the action. The resulting traffic jam then gradually began to clear.
“Now is the time to act”
“Our protest today is another wake-up call. We don’t like to disrupt things, but we won’t stop; after all, it is about the survival of our civilization. Now is the time to act. The fundamental right to climate protection must finally be included in the constitution!”
Enshrine climate protection in the constitution
The activists of the last generation are calling for a “radical rethink” of the issue of the climate crisis. For example, they call for a ban on fracking and a speed limit of 100 km/h throughout Austria. They also want to use their new slogan ‘Right to Survive’ to draw attention to the enshrinement of climate protection in the constitution.
