Return traffic at the end of the Pentecost holidays in the German states of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate has caused serious traffic disruption in Austria.
As the ÖAMTC announced on Saturday afternoon, there was a traffic jam of more than 25 kilometers on the Tauern motorway (A10) between Altenmarkt and Pfarrwerfen due to overload. This has led to numerous accidents and block clearances or tunnel closures, according to a press release.
The Golling-Werfen construction site on the A10 in Salzburg “once again turned out to be the biggest bottleneck,” the ÖAMTC continued. In Tyrol, the Fernpass road (B179) between Nassereith and Füssen and the Inntal motorway (A12) before the Kufstein border crossing towards Bavaria were congested.
