Farm burned down – after flaming inferno: identity of corpse clarified!

Date:

The body found in mid-March in a burned-out farm in the Tyrolean Wildschönau (Kufstein district) is undoubtedly one of the residents. This is evident from a DNA comparison, the National Criminal Investigation Department announced on Monday.

An autopsy at the Innsbruck forensic center initially failed to clarify the identity of the body due to the condition of the human remains. Fire investigators believe it was an accident and not intentional.

A fire probably broke out in the kitchen
The condition of the body left it unclear how the dead man ultimately died, as well as the exact course of the accident. However, the fire probably started in the kitchen, LKA researcher Philipp Rapold told APA. This indicated traces of fire.

The heater was therefore switched on. The investigation into the identity of the dead man, the cause of death and the cause of the fire has now been completed, Rapold confirms.

The fire broke out on the night of March 14. The building burned down completely. Two men recently lived in the house. One resident was found somewhere else, the second was initially still being sought. After the extinguishing work was completed, a body was eventually found during a search in the house that was in danger of collapsing. It is now clear that this was the second resident.
