That could have ended in an Easter traffic catastrophe! A truck driver from Russia was apparently heavily drunk while driving through Tyrol. The man was exposed because he had rammed barriers at several places along the Inntal highway.
German officials warned their colleagues from the Tyrolean highway police about the truck driver on Tuesday. It hit the guardrail several times. The Tyrolean police were able to locate the driver of the vehicle in the Langkampfen parking lot. It quickly became clear to the officers that the 48-year-old Russian was very drunk. The confirmation came via an alcohol test.
Accident at the construction site
The Russian would not have hit the guardrail alone with his heavy vehicle. Research showed that the road narrowing in the Wörgl-Angath construction area was probably too difficult a bottleneck for the disabled driver. The man is said to have rammed into the concrete barrier on the construction site several times.
The 48-year-old’s driver’s license was confiscated on the spot. He had to pay several thousand euros in bail and is being reported.
