There will be many day trippers and holidaymakers in Tyrol in the coming days. The traffic police warn of a lot of traffic with obstacles and have announced tightened controls, which will especially affect motorcyclists.
The police expect a lot of traffic on the roads in Tyrol this Easter weekend. Major disruptions are expected on most transit routes, but also on the roads to winter sports areas.
“We will provide information about disabilities”
In particular the well-known routes to the south and the associated access roads to Tyrol via Fernpass and Co. will be affected. “If there are any disruptions on the roads in Tyrol, we will of course inform you immediately,” promises Enrico Leitgeb, deputy head of the state transport department.
Motorcyclists are at the center of the controls
He also warned that people must adhere to the applicable rules: from Maundy Thursday to Easter Monday there will be more control on travel and excursion traffic. The emphasis will be on motorcycles. “Targeted traffic monitoring measures are intended to hold particularly reckless road users to account,” specifies Leitgeb, adding: “The aim of these checks is to ensure that all road users reach their destination without accidents.”
Police advise cyclists to wear safety equipment and carefully check the condition of their two-wheelers before setting off. And: “Drive appropriately defensively, especially at the beginning of the motorcycle season!”
