A 37-year-old paid in Salzburg’s Old Town with already canceled vouchers. As a result, the police discovered him and eventually arrested the Italian after several crimes.
A 37-year-old Italian was arrested in Salzburg on Wednesday after being suspected of committing a series of crimes. The man was initially caught in a perfumery, where he tried to pay with canceled Old Town vouchers on March 25. When police checked on him, he resisted and slightly injured two police officers.
Movie theater burglary
Further investigation revealed that the suspect broke into a cinema on the night of March 24 and stole the vouchers and money. He is also suspected of having repeatedly stolen cash from a hotel safe since December 2023 using a stolen central key.
Video surveillance clearly identified the 37-year-old as the perpetrator. After an arrest warrant was issued, he was finally arrested in Salzburg on Wednesday and taken to Salzburg prison.
